Since the first Hindustan Coffee House opened in London in the late Eighteenth century, the British have had a love affair with Indian cuisine.
Over the next couple of hundred years the Indian restaurant trade would grow to be no.1 in the UK, outselling Chinese, Thai, Pizza, Burgers and that great British favourite, Fish and Chips.
During this time the food has evolved for a demanding clientele, changing to suit a more Western palate.
The result is "Brit-Indi".
Located between Fishermens Net and Downeast Appliances at 849 Forest Avenue, Portland's first Brit-Indi Take-Out opened in May 2004.
